Sanjay Rath Books



Sanjay Rath (born August 7, 1963 at Sambalpur, Orissa) is an Indian astrologer. He comes from a traditional family of astrologers from Bira Balabhadrapur Sasan village in Puri, Orissa, which trace their lineage back to Shri Achyuta Das (Sri Acyutananda). Sanjay Rath studied under his uncle, the late Pandit Kasinath Rath. His grandfather, the late Pandit Jagannath Rath, was the Jyotish Ratna of Orissa and authored many books on Jyotisha.


Sanjay Rath is a graduate in mechanical engineering and has been in Government service in India (1990 Batch). He has authored a translation of Maharishi Jaimini's Upadesa Sutra and another book titled "Crux of Vedic Astrology- Timing of Events" which gives the various tools for timing events related to individual houses of the horoscope. Besides this, he has also authored various articles on astrology for many magazines some of which have proved to be very accurate in their predictions. He teaches traditional Vedic Astrology at the Sri Jagannath Vedic Center at Delhi. He belongs to a traditional family of astrologers from Bira Balabhadrapur Sasan Village of Puri, Orissa. His grandfather, the late Pundit Jagannath Rath was the Jyotish Ratna of Orissa and had authored many books on Jyotish. He was known for his precise predictions and scientific approach. He was initiated into the Gayatri as well as Jyotish (Diksha) by his paternal uncle Late Pundit Kasinath Rath.

Pt. Sanjay Rath is the founder of SJC and a researcher and translator of classical jyotish literature. He has presented papers at various conferences worldwide and is the author of many books including a translation of Maharishi Jaimini's Upadesa Sutra and the all time classic "Crux of Vedic Astrology- Timing of Events", that have revolutionized outlook on jyotish and accepted it as being essentially scientific. He is the editor of 'The Jyotish Digest.' He is a director of SIVA and teaches at the Devaguru Brihaspati Center . He is a graduate in mechanical engineering and was an officer in the Government of India (1990 Batch). He belongs to a traditional family of astrologers from Bira Balabhadrapur Sasan Village of Puri, Orissa. His grandfather, the late Pundit Jagannath Rath was the Jyotish Ratna of Orissa.


These were big, glossy, expensive books of forts and Maharajahs in Rajasthan; showing you swarthy moustachioed men with bright eyes and coiffured turbans; women shyly hiding half their faces behind a a bright veil, dressed in dazzling earth-friendly clothes; you saw shiny double-spreads of caravans in the desert, and gaily decorated bazaars. The nomadic life was given make-up, poverty and underdevelopment shown the back door. Even the camels were Kodachromed so that no one knew they were nasty, cantankerous animals who hated their subjugation and showed this by letting go evil-smelling farts.


It was Berger, who in his assessment of a famous Donald McCullin photograph depicting the horror of war, suggested that the photograph rather than making us more aware of the travails of such violence, depoliticized all the issues.
